If you currently have a gap in your smile because of missing teeth, you will want to consider closing that gap. One of the ways we do this at Polished Dental is through a non-surgical tooth replacement called a dental bridge restoration. If you leave the gaps in your smile without replacing them,  you could be inviting misalignment in your smile as well as chipped teeth.

A bridge is when one or more teeth are covered in dental crowns with a fake tooth in the middle. This bridge will anchore the neighboring teeth to close the gap. It typically takes two to three appointments with Dr. Nina Nattiv to complete the restoration.

If you are wondering why fixing the gap is so important to the health and appearance of your smile, let’s take a look at a few reasons:

—  A dental bridge can fill in the empty spaces so that your teeth appear normal again.

— A dental bridge can help you bite and chew your food while adding strength to your bite.

— A dental bridge can help you speak properly again.

— A dental bridge can help keep your remaining teeth from shifting out of place.

A bridge is not perfect—it won’t prevent bone-loss in the area that you are missing the tooth and requires drilling down the teeth next to the space. In order to replace a tooth and preserve the bone, you would need a dental implant.

If you would like more information about a dental bridge or would like to have our dentist examine your smile gaps, we invite you to give our Polished Dental team a call at 310-349-1980 to schedule a consultation. We look forward to helping you maintain your healthy, beautiful smile!
